My art is my voice—a medium through which I translate the world’s visual language and my emotional response. Every painting or drawing is rooted in observation, from the intricate details of a puffin to the sweeping landscapes that merge with the sea. A journey to Scotland’s Northern Isles profoundly influenced my work, deepening my connection to the interplay between history, nature, and art.
The archipelagos of Orkney and Shetland hold echoes of the past, their prehistoric stones etched with intricate symbols—what stories do they tell? The solemn forms of cairns and barrows stand as ancestral tributes, silent yet powerful. My art emerges from a desire to capture the spirit of this ancient land and visually interpret its timeless mysteries.
Watercolor’s fluidity allows me to weave abstract explorations of color and texture with bursts of realism. The organic movement invites viewers to pause, observe, and appreciate the often-overlooked textures and patterns of the natural world. I seek to convey not just the raw beauty of these landscapes but the enduring soul that lingers within them.
Echoes is a new art series, currently in development. My focus is on the ancient landscapes of Scotland and Ireland. As an anthrop0logy major I am both academically and artistically interested in the art and archaeology of our ancestors. This summer I am fortunate to travel to Ireland to visit the Brú na Bóinne, home of Europe's largest collection of megalithic art -as well as to visit an old friend in Northern Ireland. I aim to glean more inspiration for this series. <3
